Parly Votes In Favour Of Probe Into Allegations of Corruption in DA-Run Knysna

UPDATE: Love Knysna Petition

The National Council of Provinces (NCOP), the upper house of the Parliament of South Africa voted voted overwhelmingly in favour of a probe into widespread allegations of corruption in the DA-run Knysna Municipality. Eight provinces – Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, North West – voted in favour of the motion while the Western Cape voted against.

This follows hearings by Parliament’s Select Committee on Petitions and Executive Undertakings on the Love Knysna Petition submitted to Parliament some three years ago.

Last week, UnCensored published an open letter to the NCOP’s Chairperson Thandi Modise, questioning the delay in finalising the recommendations which the Select Committee made last year that Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane should probe the allegations made by activist Mike Hampton
