IT is with shock and sadness that we as the African People’s Convention ( APC) have learnt of the unfortunate passing away of one of our struggle icons Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. uMama had distinguished herself in the bitter struggle against white minority rule. She always identified with the poorest of the poor, never wavered or compromised. She was hated, hounded & detained by the minority regime, never the darling of the liberal media. She has fought a good fight, led by example.
After independence when former activists were corrupted by embourgeiosment she remained steadfast. She is worthy of emulation by generations to come.
The APC calls on all of us to redouble our efforts in her memory to return the land to its rightful owners, to breakdown white privilege & racism and the projection of the African personality.
History will surely be kinder to her for her bravery, principled stand for the masses than the hypocrisy & crocodile tears of some in our midst & the liberal establishment.
The African People’s Convention passes it’s revolutionary salute to her memory, family and comrades. We will remain true to the ideals for which leaders like her served, suffered and sacrificed for.
The struggle continues
